Hello! My pen name is Richard A. Daniels
I was a public high school teacher for ten years, after working with many students and telling random stories over the years, it was students who convinced me to write. So in 2020, I begin this journey with only a character and concept to develop a seven book series focused on my titular character, Jack Murphy, the boy from nowhere.
I am passionate about story-telling, reading, education, and the power of imagination. With support of my wonderful family and friends, we hope you enjoy and join us on this journey. I promise this to be the greatest story never told, till now. . .

Finding a Cure for SYNGAP1
Hello, this little guy is my 2 year old nephew Isaac and he was diagnosed with SYNGAP1 in 2024.

Isaac has a rare genetic condition called SYNGAP1. Newly discovered in 2009, mutations identified on the SYNGAP1 gene result in affected individuals not producing enough SynGAP protein. This protein is critical for proper brain function, acting as a regulator in the synapses–where neurons communicate with each other. Without the right amount of SynGAP protein the synapses are more easily excitable, making it difficult for neurons to communicate effectively and changing the structure of the brain. This leads to epilepsy, autism, and significant intellectual disability in the majority of cases. When Isaac was diagnosed in 2024, only 1400 patients had been diagnosed with SYNGAP1-RD.

Diagnosis like Isaac's are tense and emotionally draining experiences for families, some grappling with medical bills they struggle to pay, in search of answers unknown at this time. For those families SRF is there.
